It’s February, so you know what that means-- it’s the month of love! Valentine’s Day and the rest of the month surrounding it is the most romantic time of year. There are so many great romantic movies you can sit down and watch with a friend all while eating your favorite foods. I know that I, for one, like to watch rom-coms and imagine that it is happening to me, so here are a few of my favorite romantic comedies’ leading ladies and what I think they would eat on campus, so that you can enter into a rom-com of your own.

1. Sally Albright - When Harry Met Sally

When Harry Met Sally is my personal favorite movie on this list (I’ve seen it at least 10 times), so I like to think I know a thing or two about Sally Albright. Unfortunately, I think Sally would be Fresh Fusion’s least favorite customer. She would order a salad, but then ask for individual containers (aka on the side) for every single topping, protein, and dressing so she could make it exactly to her standards, and I love her for that.

2. Bridget Jones – Bridget Jones’s Diary

Now Bridget Jones is, of course, our lazy, relatable queen. She makes mistakes, messes up, does inappropriate things at work, and embarrasses herself constantly. Even though sometimes her incredible awkwardness can make you cringe harder than you’ve ever cringed before, she is still so loveable and goofy. I think she would absolutely TEAR UP a chili dog from the Quad Kitchen because it’s simple, cheap, and of course, has beans (she’s British).

3. Kat Stratford – 10 Things I Hate About You

Kat Stratford is the opinionated and independent cool girl of 10 Things I Hate About You. She’s environmentally conscious, smart, and a fiercely loyal vegetarian. I just know she would love Pita Jungle, especially their falafel or their black bean burger.

4. Lucy Whitmore – 50 First Dates

One thing I remember about Lucy Whitmore is that she remembers nothing. She thinks every day is the same day as when she went through an accident many years ago. This means she eats the same thing every day – waffles. The only place that serves waffles on campus is the Lopes Training Table, so Lucy would be going there every morning and filling her to-go box with as many waffles as they would let her take, to build the best waffle tower possible.

5. Jenna Rink – 13 Going On 30

In this movie, Jenna Rink may look like she is 30, but she still eats like a 13-year-old. She can be seen eating a strict diet of chocolate chip pancakes, candy, and pure sugar. For this reason, I know that she would go crazy in Sweet Disciple. I mean, froyo, donuts, and as many kinds of candy as you could ask for? That is perfect for Jenna.

6. Andie Anderson – How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

Andie Anderson is the ultimate chill and cool girl who pretends to be something completely opposite. Although she tells her love interest in the movie that she is vegetarian, we all know that was just a tactic to make him dump her. In reality, I think Andie’s favorite place to eat would be the Arena Café, where she would get an Arena burger, fries, and a Pepsi (while watching a basketball game of course).

7. Margaret Tate – The Proposal

Margaret Tate is a very strong personality. She is in charge of a lot of people, and seems to be perpetually stressed and busy. Her harsh personality kind of gives the vibe of someone who doesn’t eat, but rather exclusively drinks coffee. She would get her usual, a cinnamon soy latte from GCBC.

8. Jane Nichols – 27 Dresses

Jane Nichols is a serial people-pleaser who has no time for any fun, as she is always busy planning her friends’ weddings and working. She would have no time to stop in a real restaurant, so I think she would frequent the to-go section of The Grid. Whether it’s sushi, a wrap, a sandwich, or something else, she grabs it and goes on to the next thing.

9. Anna Scott – Notting Hill

Anna is a very beautiful and famous actress. She seems unattainable, but is in reality a very lovely and kind woman. Although GCU doesn’t serve honey-soaked apricots anywhere, they do have brownies. Anna can get her brownie and any other pastry she’s dreamed of at Panera, as well as soup, salad, or sandwiches, which for some reason makes a lot of sense to me.

10. Harper Moore – Set it Up

Harper is a hard-working and fun assistant to a very successful woman. She is on the clock constantly and would do anything to make sure her boss stays happy with her. After a hard day's work, there is nothing she would rather do than pass out at home after eating a late-night pizza. She would be a frequent patron of Canyon Pizza Co. and would order a large cheese pie (maybe even to share).

These women all have very individual personalities and unique tastes in food. I hope that next time you’re getting one of these foods on campus you feel like you are living in your very own rom-com, or next time you watch one of these movies they inspire you to go get something delicious to feast on. Happy Valentine’s Day!
